There Is Even a Five-Door Version Now: the Revived Ford Bronco Is Officially Presented

Ford delayed the debut of the new Ford Bronco for too long, thus arousing unprecedented public interest.

On July 14, the company has presented the entire SUV line-up. The Bronco Sport, an inferior model is the first to enter the arena. It is followed by two top-end versions.

Unlike its predecessor released 25 years ago, the sixth-generation of the Ford Bronco, a body-on-frame SUV, has received two modifications – a three-door version and a five-door one. It is positioned as a car for traveling and driving off-road. The company is confident that the new vehicle will become a leader in this segment, as it has received a number of advanced technologies that allow raising the capabilities of the SUV to a new level. These include Trail Control (a low-speed cruise control for driving on highways), Trail (a turn assist system), and Trail One-Pedal Drive (for driving on rocky terrain).

The design of the new Ford Bronco repeats the original model of the ‘60s in key aspects. So, the new car has received the appropriate proportions and characteristics of the body, round headlights, a radiator grille with a large inscription of the model name and a lot of elements made of black plastic, which have replaced chrome plated details. Besides, the Bronco has completely preserved its utilitarian look and ethos of sport.

The new interior also shows a tendency to resemble the first-generation model. At the same time, the equipment has been significantly transformed. Now the cabin has a digital cockpit and an infotainment system with an 8- or 12-inch display, depending on the configuration. The transmission modes are selected through a rotary shifter. The cabin is weatherproof and has a rubberized floor with drain plugs, waterproof switches and water-resistant upholstery.

The Bronco is equipped with a body-on-frame structure, a fully independent suspension with a Dana AdvanTEK differential. Both axles can be ordered with Spicer Performa-TRAK locking electronic differentials. As an option, the new Ford Bronco can be equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers and hydraulic cross-stability stabilizers. The model has a ground clearance of 294 mm and can cross a ford up to 851 mm deep. For more comfort and cross-country driving, the Bronco’s wheels are shod in 35-inch tires.

As for the powertrain, the Bronco comes standard with a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine (270 hp / 420 Nm), which is paired with a seven-speed manual gearbox or ten-speed automatic transmission. A version with a 2.7-liter V6 engine with a power output of 310 hp and 542 Nm is also available. This unit only works with an automatic transmission. The SUV has only a four-wheel drive system.

Another feature of the new Ford Bronco is quick-release body panels. Its doors are installed in such a way that when they are removed, side mirrors remain in place, what makes it much easier to look around. You can also remove the roof, which consists of special sections. Moreover, this does not require special devices, since all parts are attached to special latches that can be opened even by one person.

In addition, those, who are going to buy a Bronko, will have a variety of options, thanks to which they can create their ideal SUV. These options include elements such as steel bumpers with integrated winches, various radiator grille designs, a roof rack, LED light panels, and even a range of wing covers. In total, there are four modifications, seven trim levels and more than 200 accessories for the new Bronco.
