Toyota Shows an All-Electric SUV Based on the Lexus UX

The all-electric Toyota CH-R will be released in China at the end of April .

Toyota introduced the CHR Electric at the 2019 Auto Shanghai. The eco-friendly C-HR differs from its petrol and hybrid counterparts by its closed radiator grille, nameplates ‘EV’ and ‘Electric’, special wheels, design, as well as by the absence of exhaust pipes.

As previously reported, the standard C-HR Electric has Matrix LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic sunroof, a two-color body, a rear-view camera and other features. Inside, there are a digital dashboard and a unique gear selector.

The Toyota C-HR Electric is built on the Tenga architecture with an original layout, multi-link rear and reinforced chassis elements.

Technically, the electric SUV is identical to the Lexus UX 300e. The CH-R is equipped with a 204-hp engine and a 54.3-kWh battery pack located underbody. Its drive range is not declared, but the Lexus UX 300e with the same equipment can drive 400 km on a single charge (NEDC).

The Toyota C-HR Electric will be produced by GAC Toyota. A Chinese price tag of the new product is still unknown.
