Volkswagen Does Not Intend to Abandon Manual Transmission

Volkswagen will continue to produce cars with manual transmissions, despite the global trend to abandon it.

Automatic or manual? This question is asked not only by drivers but also by car manufacturers. Many companies have already completely abandoned manual transmissions, preferring automatic ones. However, many brands are still too conservative. There are manufacturers that still set a high value on the manual transmission and continue to equip modern cars with it.

Volkswagen is also committed to preserving manual gearboxes and does not intend to abandon them as long as there is even the slightest demand. The company's list of cars equipped with a manual transmission includes the new Golf GTI hatchback, which was introduced last month. The standard variant features a six-speed manual transmission. A seven-speed dual clutch transmission is only available as an option.

Volkswagen also offers several other compact models with a manual gearbox, including the Up! GTI and Polo GTI. As for the Arteon R and Tiguan R, which VW is going to introduce in the future, the models will most likely be equipped only with an automatic transmission. However, this does not mean that the company will not offer a manual transmission as an additional option in the future.
