The Volkswagen Golf R Comes Into the BMW Tuner Hands

Germany-based Manhart has prepared a tuning kit for the Volkswagen Golf R.

Manhart had initially been engaged in the development of only BMW models before the company’s specialists’ ambitions led to tuning cars of other brands, such as Volkswagen and Mercedes. Each model that came out of the tuning firm has high reliability, incredible quality and unique design.

The company has created a special tuning kit called ‘RS 450’ for the Volkswagen Golf R of the previous generation. The kit includes not only external improvements but also increased engine efficiency. In particular, the specialists boosted the power of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine from 310 to 450 hp and the torque from 400 to 500 Nm (369 pound-feet).

The increase in power was made possible by the installation of a larger turbocharger and a new intake and exhaust system. In addition, the engineers reconfigured the operation of an electronic engine control unit. The Golf R has also received lower H&R springs with individual tuning, a Rieger front spoiler lip, a set of stickers, and 19-inch Concave One wheels with individual design, shod in 235/35 tires.

Upon client’s request, Manhart can install more powerful brakes and redesign the interior. As for the dynamic characteristics, the German tuner does not disclose this information. However, there is no doubt that they will be significantly superior to the standard Golf R.
