The Volkswagen ID Buzz to Replace the Touran

Interest in minivans and compact cars is gradually falling around the world. The attention of road-users was drawn to SUVs, which manufacturers offer in both five- and seven-seat configurations.

Despite this trend, Volkswagen is preparing the electric minivan ID Buzz to enter the market.

According to Volkswagen’s member of board of directors Frank Welsh, the innovative ID Buzz, which will be released in 2022, should become an indirect replacement for the Touran and a game changer in the segment. Besides, it is worth noting that the manufacturer has already stopped producing the Seat Alhambra and will give up on the larger Shara in the near future. The Touran is next in line, because the demand for it is falling every year.

The second reason for Volkswagen's rejection of minivans is that the company decided to focus on the production of SUVs and CUVs. It also invests heavily in electric vehicles, as it considers them a more promising direction.

We now have the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace SUV and we are ready to launch the next generation of the ID series, including the ID Buzz. It is many times better than the Touran, both technically and in design, so we do not see the need to further expand the segment of multipurpose vehicles and keep outdated models,
