Volkswagen Designs the Electric Golf for Racing

The Volkswagen e-performance R will make its debut at the GP Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria.

The car is based on the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR that is built on the basis of the 7th generation model. Unlike the car participating in official competitions, the prototype lacks a 350-hp petrol turbo engine, but it is equipped with a fully electric powertrain.

Specifications of the unique electric vehicle are not disclosed yet. It is only known that it has all-wheel drive. Rumor has it that the Volkswagen e-performance R will receive units from the Volkswagen ID.3, which was officially introduced in September 2019.

It is worth noting that Bentley has built the unique Continental GT adapted for the same GP Ice Race; the car is created in a single copy and is not for sale.
