Volkswagen Reveals Design of the New Amarok

The second-generation pickup will share the platform with the new Ford Ranger. It will make its debut in 2022.

Yesterday, Volkswagen showed what the new Amarok will look like, although only in sketches. It is already known that the new vehicle will be developed jointly with Ford. It is worth noting that VW signed a cooperation agreement with the company last year. The manufacturers have created an alliance that will now develop pickups and SUVs, as well as commercial vehicles.

The shown sketch only demonstrates the Amarok pickup in general. You should not expect that the production version will be the same. For example, there are no door handles in the images, and the huge wheels are shod in off-road tires. However, we can already say that the second-generation pickup will be much bolder than the current one.

The second generation Volkswagen Amarok will share the main components and units with the Ford Ranger. The mid-size pickup truck with the participation of Ford is being developed for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and South America. Both models are rumored to debut in 2022. They may even be assembled at the same factory, but it is too early to talk about this.
