Volkswagen Tests Its First Electric SUV

A series of images of the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX has appeared on the Internet.

The fact that Volkswagen's ID series will feature electric GTX models became known at the end of 2019. Now the first photos of one of these models have appeared on the web. In all likelihood, we are looking at the ID.4 GTX. Several details indicate that the images show the top-end variant of the SUV. These include a rear spoiler at the base of the tailgate window, thinner C-pillars, and fake exhaust pipes.

Information about the powertrain is not available at the moment. Presumably, the SUV will be equipped with two electric motors, a total output of which is just over 300 hp, and AWD drivetrain (its presence is symbolized by the letter ‘X’ in the abbreviation GTX). It is also possible that more powerful powertrains will be available in the future in order to compete with the top-end Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

It is not yet known when Volkswagen plans to introduce the ID.4 GTX. Given that the premiere of the standard ID.4 is expected by the end of 2020, the EV can be expected in at least a year.
