Volvo Has Launched Production of Its Electric Car

Mass production of the Polestar 2 fastback is already launched in China.

Polestar has launched production of its second model — the 408-hp electric fastback. However, the point is that the production has been launched not just somewhere else but in China. What concerns the launch itself, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath noted the difficult circumstances.

Moreover, he highlighted the seriousness of the situation at the factory due to the coronavirus and the manufacturer's concern for the health of employees. It is worth noting that the factory that started assembling the electric fastback is officially part of the Geely conglomerate. The management calls this integration nothing more than a reasonable use of the corporate parent's experience, while noting that Geely’s and Volvo’s quality standards will also be met by Polestar.

The Polestar 2 is planned to be sold on the domestic market, but Europe will be the first to get the fastback. It will also be delivered to the North American market.

It is expected that the new electric car will become a real rival to the Tesla Model 3. What is more, it was reported that the standard Polestar 2 was initially priced at almost €40,000.

The Polestar 2 is equipped with two electric motors that produce 408 hp and 660 Nm. A 0-100 km/h time is 4.7 seconds. A drive range is about 500 km. The Polestar 2 will be the conglomerate’s first model to receive a new multimedia system on Android.
