New Mazda 6: What Does It Look Like?

The new Mazda 6, which will be the fourth generation of the famous model, will debut in 2022. The car will go through drastic changes.

As it became known to ABOUTCARS, the new Mazda 6 may be released a year after its premiere, in 2023. Most likely, the new product will be developed in cooperation with Toyota. It is Mazda that will design the new Toyota Mark X and the Toyota Crown.

This is about a rear-wheel drive platform and an inline-six engine, which will be developed in close cooperation by the two Japanese companies. It is interesting that Toyota’s large saloons have always been rear-wheel drive, while the Mazda 6 is a front-wheel drive car.

However, the company does not plan to develop a new platform for front-wheel drive models in the near future. For that reason, the 2022 Mazda 6 is better to get the Toyota Crown’s components. In the future, the Mazda CX-9 will also be based on this platform, but the release date of the new-gen model is still unknown.

It is also worth noting that the Crown saloon is larger than the Mazda 6. Thus, the new-gen car will be even larger and more luxurious.

Eight years later, the current generation of the Mazda 6 still looks modern. Certainly, the car has undergone modernization and even changed the interior several times. Nonetheless, the sleek design still allows the Mazda 6 to be perceived as an up-to-date car.

It means that Honda’s designers will once again be able to surprise us with an original, balanced and always relevant design that does not become outdated and boring with time. Conclusions about the upcoming car's appearance can be based on the Mazda Vision Coupe — a concept vehicle of 2017 — that reflects the design development of Honda’s major models.
