The American Woman Has Received a Driver's License with a Photo of a Chair

The department of driver services admits their mistake and explains why it had happened.

Jade Dodd, a resident of Hickman County in Tennessee, decided to replace her expired license online. This was to save the woman’s time and to protect her during the pandemic. However, the result was unexpected: there was an empty chair on the new driver's license instead of Dodd’s photo. All other information, including date of birth, gender, age, and eye color, was correct.

Before contacting the department again, Jade posted a photo of the license she was granted on Facebook. This curious case has aroused great interest, including among various. Now, Dodd has to comment on this situation again and again.

The corresponding reaction followed from the department itself. Jade's defective driver's license was replaced. The center explained the misunderstanding by the fact that an employee of the center mistakenly had saved a photo of an empty chair in Dodd's file a few years ago.

When Jade Dodd recently renewed her driver's license online, she got an image of a chair because it was the last picture saved in her file. When the department became aware of her situation, we immediately granted her a license with her real photo and resolved the situation internally

the official statement of the department of driver services says.
