A New Chinese EV with a Crazy Drive Range and a Very Low Price

China-based Xpeng Motors has introduced an electric sedan that can "beat" the Tesla Model S in terms of driving distance.

One of the advantages of the Tesla Model S is its huge drive range. The Long Range Plus variant drives up to 627 km. However, Xpeng Motors has presented its own version of an electric car, which exceeds the range of Musk's brainchild.

The Xiaopeng P7 sedan, according to the company's representatives, is capable of driving 706 km on a single charge. At the moment, it is known that the car will have several modifications. The buyer can choose between RWD or AWD drivetrain, as well as between 70.8-kwhr or 80.9-kwhr batteries. The standard version has a drive range of 568 km. A record distance can be overcome by the Super-Long Range model.

The sedan will also be slightly shorter than the Model S – 4.900 mm against 4.980 mm. At the same time, the wheelbase of the P7 is more than that of the American rival by 40 mm – 3.000 mm against 2.960 mm. The Xiaopeng P7 will also be equipped with the third-generation XPilot, which focuses on the road thanks to 14 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 5 high-frequency radars. The same system is installed in Tesla’s cars.

The interior features a 10.25-inch LCD display that functions as a dashboard. It flows smoothly into a 14.96-inch touchscreen that is responsible for the multimedia system. With all this, the car will be twice as cheap as the Tesla Model S. Prices for the Xiaopeng P7 range from $32.000 to $48.000. You will have to pay for the Model S 75D about $80.000.
