Against Duster and Juke: Fiat’s New SUVs to Relaunch the Brand

Fiat’s two new models, one of which is already preparing for its debut, will allow the company to enter the most popular car segments.

The announcement of new SUVs, with which Fiat expects to become the first car brand on the Brazilian market again, is not accompanied by any technical information about the new models, although their development began before the creation of the FCA-PSA Alliance and prototypes of one of the two cars were already caught on camera.

Rumor has it that the compact SUV will be built on the same platform with the Argo and will be equipped with a new 1.0-liter 130-hp turbo Firefly V3.

This is exactly what you need to compete with models such as the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008. But to do this, Fiat’s compact SUV must acquire a stylish design and rich equipment.

The second SUV, which the company positions as a unique model that has no analogues in its segment, will enter the market in 2022. According to local media, we are speaking about a coupe-like SUV based the 2018 Fiat Fastback concept. At least, the image of the show car is in the official press release.

The Renault Duster, what would you say? However, it is worth mentioning a more stylish version of the budget SUV — the Renault Arkana. The car has a dynamic coupe-like silhouette, as that of the Fiat Fastback Prototype.

Initially, it was assumed that the coupe SUV will be built on the same platform as the Toro. Now, there is information that the second of the announced SUVs will share the platform with the same Argo and will receive a new 1.3-liter turbo Firefly V4 (a power output is not specified).

The press release has also mentioned a new generation of the Strada released at the end of June 2020. The pickup was advertised by Elvis Presley himself, who had been resurrected for this purpose with the help of a double. In just three weeks, the company sold almost 10,000 Strada cars, but it is alleged that most of them were sold without Presley's help even before the launch of the advertising campaign. As for the updated Argo Hatchback, Cronos Sedan and Toro Pickup, the models will be released in 2021. Also, the company has promised Brazilian customers the Fiat 500E, an electric hatchback.
