Against Mini and Smart: Great Wall Has Designed a Cool-Looking EV

Great Wall works really hard: in addition to pickups and SUVs, the company will release its third electric vehicle.

Ora is a subsidiary brand of Great Wall, which was created specifically for the development and sale of electric vehicles. The Chinese manufacturer has already shown its third model, which will definitely compete with Mini and Smart.

The obvious habitat of the unnamed car (its original name was the Ora R2, but everything has already changed) is large overpopulated cities. The new Chinese EV is compact: the length is 3625 mm (with a wheelbase of 2490 mm), the width is 1660 mm, and the height is 1530 mm.

Great Wall’s new electric car looks great and its silhouette resembles Japanese kei-cars, what is quite unusual for the Chinese car industry. The designers refrained from stupid decorations and work hard to deliver the best design. Pay attention to “calm-looking” headlights, a neat bumper, spectacular taillights, and elegant side glazing.

It is expected that the new electric car will be technically the same with its sibling — the Ora R1. This means that the car will get a 48-hp electric motor and two battery packs to choose from: a 28-kWh (300 km) unit and a 33-kWh (350 km) one. The R1 costs starting from $14,000. The new EV is slightly larger, so it will probably be a little more expensive.
