Alfa Romeo's First EV to Surprise Customers

Alfa Romeo’s first electric vehicle will be released in 2022.

Alfa Romeo's first EV will be a compact SUV based on the PSA Group platform. According to Autocar, the project is being implemented as part of a cooperation agreement between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the parent company of Alfa Romeo, and the French group.

The first electric car of the Italian premium brand will be built on the electric variant of the eCMP platform, on which 7 zero-emission models will be based on by next year. These already include electric versions of the Peugeot 208, Peugeot 2008, Opel Corsa and DS 3 Crossback. The new Opel Mokka will soon be added to the list.

The electric Alfa Romeo has the same dimensions as that of the Peugeot e-2008. However, unlike the French FWD SUV equipped with a 136-hp electric motor and a 50-kWh battery pack, the Alfa Romeo EV will be AWD and will feature at least two electric motors.
