Changan Unveils New Large Crossover

The Uni-K will be released next year.

Changan has unveiled the new flagship model that is called the Uni-K, not Uni-V, as previously assumed. It is expected that the coupe-like crossover with an unusual design will be released early next year and will become the most expensive model of the Chinese brand.

It is already known that the new model will be based on the Changan CS95, but it is design is borrowed from the Vision-V presented at the Beijing Auto Show in September. In terms of dimensions, the Uni-K is slightly inferior to the Volkswagen Touareg: it is 4,865 mm in length, 1,948 mm in width and 1,700 mm in height. Its wheelbase reaches 2,890 mm (14 mm less than that of the Touareg).

Unlike the Vision-V, the production version has received a real radiator grille but retained the frameless design with a hexagon ornament, as well as the same narrowed headlights and Y-shaped RDLs. Its doors are equipped with retractable handles. Besides, an unusual spoiler with brake light repeaters is placed above the rear window. The Chinese brand has not yet declassified the interior design.

It is announced that the Uni-K will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo V4 as that of the Changan CS95. The unit comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox by Aisin. The engine's power output is 233 hp and 360 Nm.

The Changan Uni-K will make its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November. The crossover will be released in China early next year.
