Australia-based H2X plans to start mass production of hydrogen electric vehicles in 2021.

H2X’s hydrogen fuel cell startup is set to revive the Australian car industry, which has fallen victim to global carmakers. With the help of investors in the face of the Elvin Group and Denzo Group, Australian concrete manufacturers engaged in «green» energy, H2X intends to launch car production at a factory in Port Campbell next year. Thus, H2X CEO is Brendan Norman from Austria. He has experience in executive positions in Volkswagen, BMW and Audi. The post of Chief Engineer went to Peter Zienau from Germany, who previously worked at GM and Spyker. Chief Technology Officer is Ian Thompson from Britain, who worked with Volvo, Lotus, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, General Motors, Karma and Tesla.

They plan to produce everything from SUVs and pickups to buses, trains, tractors and yachts. Besides, the company will develop alternative energy, produce hydrogen and build a gas station network.

So far, H2X has distributed images of future MPVs, a tractor and a FWD mid-size SUV called Snowy. The hydrogen SUV is based on an original sandwich platform. It is powered by a 258-hp electric motor. With 5 kg of hydrogen, the SUV can travel up to 650 km. A 0-100 km/h time is 6.9 seconds.

An experimental batch of the Snowy is planned to be released in 2021. Its release in the Australian market is planned for 2022, but subject to the creation of the necessary network of gas stations. The company plan to build 3,700 cars during the first year. The annual volume will increase to 25,000 units by 2025.
