Greater Flexibility and Brain: Audi to Improve Its Car Platform

Audi’s Integrated Vehicle Dynamics will become a kind of center of the system, combining all the components of the platform.

Global automakers do not stand still and constantly improve their cars. Special attention is paid to technologies and innovations that are literally introduced into new models in bundles. For example, Audi has developed a supercomputer that will allow controlling almost all systems in the car.

The technology is called Integrated Vehicle Dynamics. Despite being called a “vehicle dynamics brain” by the company, it should make future models simpler. This will be achieved thanks to the fact that the advanced technology will combine all the platform components from gearboxes to electronic assistants and will become a kind of control center. It can cover up to 90% of the vehicle's systems.

This technology will be implemented on absolutely all models of the manufacturer, from the compact A3 to the powerful Audi Q8 SUV. It will also fit perfectly into the Audi e-Tron family. In other words, the performance and type of powertrain do not matter for this technology. For example, EVs with Integrated Vehicle Dynamics will monitor and manage the energy recovery system, while the same system installed in RS models will be responsible for stability, dynamics and handling.

The company is silent on when this technology will be introduced into the Audi line-up. But, presumably, this will be in the foreseeable future, since the technology is ready for mass production.
