A New Hybrid for the Geneva International Motor Show: 1,700 hp for $1,000,000

The new Koenigsegg Gemera has attracted a lot of attention.

This suggests that the hybrid, as a technology, can still show us a lot of interesting things.

The 2020 Geneva International Motor Show was cancelled due to the coronavirus. However, major car premiers were held online, including a presentation of the new Koenigsegg Gemera. This hybrid has surprised with its capabilities.

The Swedish supercar has entered a new segment of comfortable GTs. Therefore, its cabin has four seats and a sufficient amount of space. There are also several displays (two of them show footage from external cameras that function as mirrors), cup holders, storage bins, an Internet connection and Wi-Fi.

But the main highlight is a powertrain. The super hybrid is equipped with a unique 2-liter 600-hp (!) engine and three electric motors. A total power output reaches 1,700 hp and 3,500 Nm.

A 0-100 km/h time is only 1.9 seconds. The car can accelerate up to 300 km/h, using only electric traction — many powerful EVs will envy such characteristics. At full output, the hybrid powertrain will overcome the 400 km/h barrier.

What else do we know about the Koenigsegg Gemera? The new hybrid will cost about $1 million. Only 300 cars will be released. We hope that nothing will prevent this amazing car from reaching production.
