Kia Is Testing an Unknown Electric Vehicle

The prototype of the new Kia CV (preliminary name) appeared on public roads in Europe.

Kia showed the concepts of two EVs that demonstrate the brand's new corporate design in 2019. One of them – the Imagine Concept — debuted at the GIMS, the second – the AWD Futuron SUV — appeared at the Auto Shanghai.

A production prototype of one of these EVs has already been caught on cameras by photospies. It is not yet known which car was put to the test. The look of the prototype contains features of both show cars.

It has got a five-door body from the Imagine Concept and a characteristic roof line, headlights and windows from the Futuron. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get a complete picture of the design of the new car from published spy photos. The front and rear ends are covered with special covers and fake overlays.

According to preliminary information, the new Kia CV is built on the e-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). It is the base of the Hyundai 45, an electric SUV, which was tested in the spring of this year.

The official premiere of the new EV, which can be named the Kia CV, is expected by the end of 2021. The new model will not be released until 2022.
