The Tucson is one of the most popular models in the Hyundai line-up. Since its introduction to the market in 2004, it has changed four generations and has sold 1.4 million copies. The new SUV, presented in South Korea on September 15, has been radically transformed and looks almost exactly the same as the 2019 Hyundai Vision T Concept, which rarely happens with production cars.

The new vehicle has complex headlights in the form of boomerangs, which are visually combined with a radiator grille and consists of trapezoidal elements. Below, there are low-beam and high-beam blocks disguised as fog lamps. Salient sidewalls made up of numerous broken lines look no less complex.

The Tucson has grown in size relative to the pre-upgrade model: length – 4,500 mm (+20 mm), width – 1,865 mm (+15 mm) and height – 1,650 mm (+5 mm). The interior has become more spacious: for example, second-row passengers now have legroom increased by 26 mm.

Besides, the Tucson has got an unusual airbag that opens between the driver and the front passenger. A similar airbag is already available for the premium Genesis GV80.

The list of equipment includes 7 airbags (including the central one), front seats with air cooling and a heated backseat. Depending on the market, the model is equipped with a Bose or Krell audio system.

The new Tucson comes standard with a 1.6-liter 150-hp turbo petrol V4 and a 1.6-liter 115-hp diesel CRDi Smartstream. The both units are combined with a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, a 48-volt motor is also available for them: mild hybrids produce 150 hp or 180 hp (based on the 1.6-liter petrol units) and 136 hp (1.6-liter diesel engine). The hybrids feature an innovative iMT (the pedal is not mechanically connected to the clutch) and a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission. The models can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with a clutch on the rear axle.
