Nissan Ariya Electric: AWD System and 480-km Mileage

Nissan has introduced a new worldwide model – the Ariya Electric SUV, which is scheduled to be released in 2021.

Nissan is actively moving towards implementing a strategy to overcome the crisis provoked by the scandal with former chief CEO Carlos Ghosn. As stated, the Japanese brand plans to introduce 10 new models within 20 months. The first in a series of premieres is the Nissan X-Trail SUV introduced a month ago. The second model in the «top 10» is the Nissan Ariya Electric, the prototype of which debuted in October 2019 in Tokyo.

The production EV is almost an exact copy of the concept. The exterior is designed in accordance with the brand's new corporate design philosophy called ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism’. Nissan plans to release FWD and AWD versions.

The single-engined Ariya is equipped with an electric motor that produces 218 hp and 300 Nm, and the two-engined car has a total power output of 394 hp and 600 Nm. The front-wheel-drive SUV needs about 7.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h. A top speed is 159 km/h. The AWD Nissan Ariya has a 0-100 km/h time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

The US market will get the AWD Ariya Electric with 63-kWh and 87-kWh batteries. The larger battery can provide a drive range of up to 483 km. The SUV will be available only in a five-seat body with two seat rows. You can choose between 19-inch and 20-inch wheels.

The interior of the Nissan Ariya Electric is standard equipped with a 12.3-inch dashboard and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The electric SUV has also got the ProPILOT Assist 2.0 system.

The Nissan Ariya will appear on the domestic market in mid-2021 and in the US at the end of 2021. An American minimum price tag of the electric SUV will approximately be $40,000.
