Nissan GT-R 50: Long-Awaited Model for $1 Million

The Japanese Nissan GT-R with Italian design has come a long way from the prototype to the owner.

The manufacturer unveiled the Nissan GT-R 50 in the summer of 2018. Then the sports car was in the status of a prototype created by Italdesign as part of the celebration of two 50th anniversaries — its own and the Skyline GT-R. At the end of the year, it was confirmed that Nissan would build 50 sports cars worth $1.08 million each.

A year later, the company announced to show a new vehicle at the Geneva International Motor Show, which never took place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since the situation with COVID-19 remains unpredictable, a presentation of the first mass-produced example was decided to be held online.

The Nissan GT-R 50 by Italdesign is based on the Nissan GT-R coupe modified by Nismo. The car received a new body, while retaining the wheelbase. The design with a new front bumper and a ‘breathing’ hood is inspired by Italian supercars of the past. The interior has an abundance of carbon fiber, Alcantara and leather.

The sports car is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with a power output of 720 hp and 780 Nm. The engine received new superchargers, optimized intake and exhaust systems. Elements of the all-wheel drive system and gearbox were replaced with more durable ones. It is also worth noting unique 21-inch wheels, as well as Brembo brakes with red calipers and a modified Bilstein adjustable suspension.
