Tesla’s Competitor Surprises with an 832-km Drive Range

The Lucid Air will be on sale before the end of the year, but potential buyers are probably even more interested in it.

Lucid, a manufacturer of electric vehicles, has revealed a drive range of its first-born sedan. And it is really surprising. We are talking about an 832-km range. This new record helps the Lucid Air manage to leave the Tesla Model S with its 647-km all-electric range far behind.

Most likely, this indicator is not accidental, and the manufacturer deliberately wants to show a better result compared to Tesla. This is because the founder of Lucid used to be the chief designer of the Model S. He was well aware of all the nuances and features of the EV and installed a 130-kWh battery on his sedan (against a 100-kWh battery of the Model S). But this is not all. The company managed to reduce aerodynamic drag to 0.21.

It is worth noting that the concept of the new sedan was presented 4 years ago. This time the manufacturer needed to finalize its creation and search for investors. The latter allowed Lucid to build a factory in Arizona and to move to the pre-order stage.

An 832-km drive range, which Lucid boasts of, fully corresponds to reality. It was calculated using the EPA method. However, the US agency has not yet tested the sedan directly. This was done by FEV North America, which conducts similar testing at the request of automakers.

Earlier, when announcing the Lucid Air, the manufacturer said that its electric vehicle would be better than Tesla’s and would surprise not only with its range but also with its luxury interior. At the same time, the electric sedan would be more expensive, and it would be produced in smaller quantities.
