The Chinese Company reveals an Aggressive Pickup Truck in the Style of the Mitsubishi L200

The rival to the L200 is still listed as a concept.

The premiere of a potential competitor to the Mitsubishi L200 — a body-on-frame pickup truck of the Chinese brand Maxus — took place at the 2020 Chengdu Motor Show. Presented in the status of a concept, the new vehicle demonstrates new features that will be used for the already produced T60 and T70.

The show car is designed in the brand’s new style. The unnamed concept has got narrow headlights, a huge radiator grille with three horizontal ribs and a massive chrome finish from the Maxus D60 SUV.

At the same time, the design of the rear end and cargo platform is unique, but the production model, in all likelihood, will not get some of these elements. On the outside, the new Chinese SUV looks very much like the Mitsubishi L200, so the object of the designers' inspiration is obvious.

The interior of the concept features unusual seats with two-color upholstery. There are a digital dashboard and multimedia displays integrated into a single unit on the front fascia. A minimal set of physical buttons and a transmission control lever on the central tunnel are also striking decisions.

The engine range is completely borrowed from the T60 and T70 series: a 2.0-liter 163-hp turbo diesel unit and a 2.0-liter 213-hp turbo petrol one.

According to preliminary information, the production version of the currently unnamed Maxus pickup will be shown by the end of this year.
