The Most Powerful 2021 VW Golf R Is Unveiled Without Camouflage Wrap

The design of the most powerful hot hatch - the Volkswagen Golf R – has been declassified in unofficial photos.

Today, we have learnt what the new model will look like thanks to a series of spy photos published on Instagram by Wilcoblok. The 2021 VW Golf R, which will be the most powerful in the line-up, looks very aggressive.

Externally, the R-version differs from the standard Volkswagen Golf 8 with an aerodynamic body kit, enlarged air intakes, a sportier rear bumper, a glossy black diffuser, and a four-pipe exhaust system. Also, the hot hatchback has got silver side-view mirrors, five-spoke alloy wheels, and a powerful brake system with ventilated discs and blue calipers with the icon ‘R’.

The only photo of the interior shows a sports steering wheel with steering gear lobes, a blue insert on the central spoke and a special ‘R’ button. Presumably, it puts the hot hatch in high-performance mode. You can also notice a digital dashboard and decorative carbon-like trim.

The manufacturer does not provide much information about the new model. Most likely, it will get a 2.0-liter 333-hp turbo engine, a semi-automatic transmission, and an AWD system.

The company has been testing the new Golf R for several months. It means that it won't be long to wait for its premiere, which could have taken place at the canceled 2020 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Volkswagen Golf R may be released at the beginning of 2021.
