Volkswagen ID.5: First Images

The stylish Volkswagen ID. 5 debuts next year.

Volkswagen is actively electrifying its model range. A little more than a month ago, the company introduced a completely new electric crossover, namely the ID. 4. Now, the company is going to release its coupe-like version. The EV has already been caught on camera by photospies during tests. However, the model was completely covered in camouflage wrap, which is why it was not possible to study the car in detail.

That is why artists have created renderings of the future model, using spy photos. The vehicle will presumably be released under the name VW ID.5. The silhouette of the cross-coupe looks very stylish and modern. If the front end completely repeats the VW ID.4, the rear end has become more sloping. As a result, the design of the rear window and tailgate has changed. The window is stripped of the wiper and the tailgate has received a spoiler with a stop light. Besides, the cross-version will lose roof rails. The design of the taillights and bumper is similar to these of the ID. 4.

Currently, the manufacturer has not disclosed any information about the future model, but rumor has it that it will be built on the same modular platform as the donor car and will receive similar powertrains. Thus, the base version will be equipped with a 204-hp electric motor on the rear axle. A two-engined version with a power output of 306 hp will also be available. An all-electric range will be 400 km. It will be provided by an 82-kWh battery.
