Volvo's Newest EV Is a Stylish SUV

For now, the unnamed Volvo EV will be released after the full-size XC90 SUV with an electric powertrain.

Robin Page, Volvo's Senior Vice President of Design, told about plans to expand the model line and develop new market segments. According to the top manager, the future model range of the brand will be very different from what we see today. One of these unusual models will be an electric SUV or CUV. The Swedish brand plans to release it by 2025.

The transition to electrification gives us the opportunity to rethink what cars are. We are ready not only to repeat what we did, but also to look for opportunities in new segments. In his opinion, EVs and SUVs «contradict each other». They are looking for solutions that will allow them to offer customers a «green» SUV with good aerodynamics and power reserve. In all likelihood, this will be a car with a corporate style and smoother body lines, which British journalists tried to visualize on their sketch.

The nearest electric car of the brand will be the third-generation Volvo XC90, which is expected to premiere in 2021. An as-yet unnamed electric cross-coupe will appear after it.
