A 56-Year-Old Jaguar E-Type Is Found in a Barn

In the UK, a rare 1964 Jaguar E-Type coupe was found in an old unused barn, where it spent 40 years in complete oblivion, losing almost all its gloss.

The former owner abandoned the iconic model back in 1979.

On an initial visual inspection, it seemed that the classic Jag is in a fairly tolerable condition and time had not affected it too much. However, as soon as it was disassembled and sandblasted, specialists discovered a sad spectacle.

Four decades of neglect were not in vain and the car required serious repairs. Some elements of the body were so battered that they had to be replaced and strengthened, as the metal was very worn out. After the work done, the car body was repainted in its original opalescent silver blue paintwork.

Experts also completely redesigned the interior of the E-Type, as it was not possible to restore it. It was retrimmed in oxblood red leather, as that of the E-Type Lightweight, which was limited to 12 examples.

The restored Jag also received a 3.8-liter XK6 engine, improved brake calipers and pads, new suspension, aluminum radiator and header tank, a stainless steel sports exhaust system, and a 5-speed manual transmission.
