Alpina Introduces Two Variants of the BMW 5-Series at Once

The BMW M5 can rightfully be considered one of the fastest and most technologically advanced production cars of our time.

However, as they say, there is no limit to perfection and the latest news from Alpina is a direct confirmation of this. The manufacturer has showed two modifications at once – the petrol B5 and the diesel D5 S, each of which will be available in both a sedan body and a touring body.

The latest versions of the Alpina B5 and D5 S are designed to enhance the performance and luxury of the BMW 5 Series for people who are looking for something hotter than the German company offers. Both models will go on sale in Germany in October. The B5 sedan starts at €117,700 and the B5 touring — €120,700. The D5 S diesel sedan, in turn, costs €92,500 euros and the station wagon — €95,500.

If you prefer a diesel engine, the D5 S uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 that develops 402 hp and 800 Nm. The diesel sedan takes 4.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h, while the station wagon shows the same speed in 4.6 seconds. A top speed is 286 km/h and 283 km/ h, respectively. As the petrol B5, these models also use an eight-speed automatic transmission and an AWD drivetrain with priority to the rear axle.

The B5 and D5 S are equipped with adaptive shock absorbers, as well as rear wheel steering that can turn them up to 2.3 degrees to the left or right. The car rides on Alpina's signature multi-spoke wheels, which are 20 inches in diameter.
