This Old Mercedes-Benz SL Convertible Is Turned Into an Electric Car

The SL Shop decided to turn a classic car into a modern EV.

The SL Shop has presented their new project – the SportLine ZERO. It is an electric restomod based on the 1978 Roadster 350SL.

Taken as a basis, the car fell into the hands of the craftsmen not in the best shape with no engine or transmission. The only fate that awaited it was to be disassembled or idle in the backyard. However, the classic car still got a chance when the tuners decided to breathe life back into it.

To begin with, the car was completely disassembled. The second step was the restoration of the chassis and body elements. Then, it was brought to an ideal state, as that of a show car. Now the classic Mercedes-Benz SL fully meets the factory specifications.

The most interesting thing is the power plant. The 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 was replaced by two electric motors and Tesla’s battery pack. The SportLine ZERO boasts perfect weight distribution, adjustable suspension and impressive dynamics. A full battery charge is enough for a 240-km drive.

Despite the fact that the SL Shop has managed to implement their plans, the company does not plan to offer customers such a service. Most likely, this was an experiment to show that the British craftsman can do everything.
