Toyota Shows the Prius Concept with an Alien-Like Design

It even has fins! Toyota’s prototype called the Toyota Ambient RD Prius PHV Concept has been presented at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. Perhaps, the name is a mouthful but the car has turned out to be worthy of titles.

Toyota Ambient RD Prius PHV Concept was designed in collaboration between Toyota Modellista, the company's division responsible for visual enhancements, and Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the manufacturer's motorsport department.

The car front looks aggressive, especially for the Prius, but more or less traditional. Though, at the rare, the concept gets even wilder. This is unusual not only for Toyota but also for modern cars in general. There is a long raised spine that stretches from the roof to the odd wing that sits between a pair of fins. All these things can glow.

By the way, the concept’s purple illumination glows through the plastic (or other material) of the front bumper. In addition, the front bumper is equipped with a retractable diffuser. The prototype's wheels are also illuminated.

The interior is hidden behind an opaque glass, which indicates that it does not ready to be shown and probably will never be. Probably the Toyota Ambient RD Prius PHV Concept is a visionary prototype from which the next Prius (or not just it) will take individual design elements.
